The two-disc edition of Monsters, Inc. contains three fantastic hidden DVD Easter eggs. Even better, one of them is completely different depending on whether you own the UK or US release.
Here’s how to unlock all three secrets.
Easter Egg 1: Pixar Paper Plane Tournament
From the main menu, select the “Humans Only” door.
Next, choose “Pixar.”
Once you’re in the Pixar menu, scroll down to the Monsters, Inc. logo and press Left on your remote.
A paper airplane trail will appear on the screen. Press Enter to select it.
This unlocks a fun hidden video showing members of the Pixar team competing in a paper plane tournament.
Easter Egg 2: Hidden Videos Behind the Doors
Go back to the “Humans Only” menu and select “Production Tour.”
Watch the feature all the way to the end. After the Pixar animators finish speaking, you’ll be taken to a screen filled with doors that don’t have any labels.
Many of these doors hide additional videos that aren’t mentioned anywhere on the DVD packaging. Spend some time exploring, as there are several hidden clips to discover.
Easter Egg 3: UK and US Versions Are Different
From the main menu, go through the “Monsters Only” door.
Select “New Monster Adventures.”
Now press Right to highlight the Monsters, Inc. logo and then press Enter.
UK DVD Release
The UK version of the DVD contains the Mobsters, Inc. trailer. Bit boring but worth a watch..
US DVD Release
The Region 1 US release includes a much better hidden feature.
One of the Pixar animators introduces a series of animation dailies featuring practical jokes by the team. The clips are full of silly moments, but the standout scene has to be Sully wrapping Boo in a carpet and bowling her down a staircase.
