Doctor Who The Power Of The Daleks Special Edition — Despite spanning three discs of content the Power of the Daleks DVD contains 2 secret easter eggs.    •

Doctor Who The Power Of The Daleks Special Edition

The Doctor Who Special Edition DVD includes hours of bonus material spread across three discs.

But even with all those extras, the BBC still managed to hide not one… but two DVD Easter eggs.

Here’s how to find them.

Easter Egg One (Disc 2)

What it is

An unused animated sequence featuring the Doctor playing his flute.

This was originally planned for release but was cut because the animation team felt it wasn’t quite polished enough for the final version.

How to access it

  • Insert Disc 2
  • Go to “Special Features”
  • Select “Animation Gallery”
  • Highlight the option but do not press enter
  • Press LEFT on your remote

A hidden computer console will appear.

Press ENTER.

What you get

You’ll unlock a short, unused animated scene showing the Doctor playing his flute. It was decided that the scene was not of good enough quality to be including in the final cut and would take viewers out of the story.

I personally think it looks great but it shows how high the standards were for this ambitious release.

Easter Egg Two (Disc 3)

What it is

A behind-the-scenes feature showing how the BBC restored damaged photographs connected to the story.

It’s a short but detailed look at the restoration process used to bring the visuals back to life.

How to access it

  • Insert Disc 3
  • Go to “Special Features”
  • Scroll to “Original Title Sequence Film”
  • Highlight it but do not press enter
  • Press LEFT on your remote

The hidden computer console will appear again.

Press ENTER.

What you get

A short feature exploring the restoration of damaged photographs used in the production.

It’s a rare behind-the-scenes insight into the technical work that went into restoring classic Doctor Who content.

Notes

This is a great example of how DVD Easter eggs were often used to hide extra production material that didn’t make the main menu — rewarding viewers who explored beyond the obvious options.
